What is Bitcoin FilmFest?
Bitcoin FilmFest is the year-round home of Bitcoin Cinema — a bridge between Bitcoin and film. We champion Bitcoin filmmakers and films, connect them with the community and investors, monitor the scene and run a newsletter, and each year we stage our flagship festival in Warsaw. It is not just a festival: it's a year-round initiative and movement around Bitcoin culture — we sometimes say we sit "at the heart of Bitcoin cinema".
What is Bitcoin cinema (a Bitcoin film)?
There is no single definition — and it's one of the festival's favorite questions. Bitcoin cinema is a broad category: films directly about Bitcoin, films where Bitcoin is part of the plot, films financed or made possible through Bitcoin, and films aligned with its ethos that never mention it (like The Truman Show or The Matrix) — about freedom, decentralization, individualism and stepping out of the system. Which Bitcoin films are worth watching?
Good starting points: The Great Reset and the Rise of Bitcoin (an explanatory documentary), Searching for Satoshi (investigative journalism on the identity of Satoshi), the animated MaxisClub, and the award-winning Bitcoin Castle. Where can I watch Bitcoin films online?
Most films are available online and easy to find. Some titles we make available via the IndeeHub platform to ticket holders, and a few can be seen only in the cinema during the festival. We publish links on our website and collect trailers on our YouTube channel — and it's worth subscribing to the newsletter.
How do I submit a film to Bitcoin FilmFest?
Submission is free. A film should fit Bitcoin cinema. We are very inclusive, especially in these early editions — we're happy to find a place for creators from the Bitcoin subculture. To submit: write to us (hello@bitcoinfilmfest.com) or use platforms such as FilmFreeway. The deadline is about one month before the festival — end of May 2027 for the next edition.
How much is a ticket and what is included?
Around 100 euros for the full four days: cinema screenings, events, post-festival VOD access and a goodie bag (often worth more than the ticket itself). Prices change each year. Buying directly via Kinoteka gives cheaper access to screenings only, and partners often share discount codes of up to 20%.
Can you pay in Bitcoin at the festival?
Yes — you can pay in Bitcoin for everything: food, merch, artworks and admission. We don't make a big show of it; at BFF people come above all for the culture.
What are the Golden Rabbit awards and why a rabbit?
The Golden Rabbits are Bitcoin FilmFest's awards — the festival's equivalent of the Oscars, the highest honor for Bitcoin filmmakers. Golden, because Bitcoin is digital gold. The rabbit refers to the White Rabbit from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) — following the white rabbit means discovering a truer reality, a motif also known from The Matrix ("follow the white rabbit"). The white rabbit is the festival's brand persona.

How did Bitcoin FilmFest start?
From the Polish Bitcoin scene. Tomek and friends tried to organize a screening of Pierre Corbin's documentary The Great Reset and the Rise of Bitcoin. The screening fell through — and that pushed Tomek and Pierre toward the idea of organizing a film festival. Bitcoin FilmFest was founded in Warsaw in 2022. More in the founder interview →
Who is behind the festival?
A growing group of friends and the whole BFF community — dozens of artists and filmmakers. The festival is coordinated by Tomek Kołodziejczuk with Florina, Błażej, Nomishka, Pierre and Kasia, plus dozens of contributors.
Why Warsaw?
It's where the festival began. We have a wonderful venue — the Palace of Culture and Science (Kinoteka). Warsaw sits in the heart of Europe, is well connected, has an international airport, is beautiful and has a rich history of cinema and culture.
What is MoneroKon and how does it relate to BFF?
MoneroKon is a conference about privacy and decentralized technologies, held each year in a different city. In 2026 it chose Poland, so we joined forces — same venue, dates and tickets. Bitcoin FilmFest remains a film festival; the collaboration comes from overlapping themes.
What is the difference between Bitcoin and crypto?
Bitcoin is a revolution — the next-generation evolution of humanity's most important technology, money, and a solution to the world's biggest systemic problem. "Crypto" is usually copycat projects riding Bitcoin's wave, often investment opportunities or quick-money schemes, playing in a different league. Bitcoin FilmFest is a Bitcoin-only culture: the goal is not investment but a deep change of society — through technology and culture, independence from institutions, decentralization and honest relations between people.
Is the festival beginner-friendly?
Very — more than any other Bitcoin event, because it's about culture and entertainment, and many films are aimed at beginners. We don't use complicated language; we speak through examples and stories. It's a great entry point to the Bitcoin world.
When is the next edition?
The fifth edition of Bitcoin FilmFest takes place June 24–27, 2027 at Warsaw's Kinoteka. Early-bird tickets and film submissions are already open at bitcoinfilmfest.com.
How can I get involved?
Buy a ticket, submit a film, volunteer or become a Friend (sponsor) of the festival. And if you create — share your work and come to show it. The most important thing a creator can do for Bitcoin culture is to share it with the world.
