Who Is Bitcoin?
Many have asked the question, "What is Bitcoin?" Few have ever dared to ask, "Who is Bitcoin?" This short film introduces Bitty — a seven-foot-tall anthropomorphic Bitcoin puppet with articulated brows and a moving mouth — built by Spiral to explain Bitcoin's purpose through character and story rather than lectures. Bitty was deliberately designed grumpy because "kids latch onto grouches, and there is a long puppet tradition of it." The film uses real puppetry (a person inside the suit) on purpose, to be surprised by what happened on camera. It passed half a million views and spawned a creative universe of 100+ license-free Bitcoin character assets (SVG/PNG) at herecomesbitcoin.org, plus a plushie, stickers, and a memecoin ($BITTY) that donates 100% of trade taxes to bitcoin.org.
The Bitcoin angle
The film reframes Bitcoin education from "what it costs" to "what it's for" — using a tangible, grumpy puppet character to make Bitcoin approachable for newcomers. The Here Comes Bitcoin project provides 100+ free creative assets (SVG/PNG, license-free) so anyone can use the Bitcoin character in their own projects, memes, education, or merchandise. This is Bitcoin culture as open source IP: the puppet, the short film, the asset library, and the community all serve onboarding rather than speculation.
